ABOUT THE SENSEI
James Richard Bartee, Jr. is the sensei and director of Aikido of Myrtle Beach, (www.aikidomyrtlebeach.com). Aikido Myrtle Beach was a member of Aikido Schools of Ueshiba (www.asu.org), a federation of more than 125 dojos since 1993. Effective January 15, 2023, we are now an independent dojo that focuses on effective martial Aikido, Daito-ryu Aikijujuitsu, self-defense and defensive measures. In addition,this dojo also teaches Muso Jikiden Eishen-ryu laijutsu (combat sword) and is also an authorized and official Jikishin-kai USA dojo under the guidance and instruction of Carl Long Hanshi! We have also been training under Dan Harden, who is a master of developing internal power to enhance all styles of martial arts.
Bartee Sensei is an honorably retired U.S. Secret Service (USSS) Senior Special Agent. He had the honor to be personally assigned to the duties of protecting President George Bush and his family, President Bill Clinton and his family, presidential candidates, and other visiting head of states. He was also involved in criminal investigations and intelligence investigations. He also was trained to conduct security surveys. USSS training was based on Daito-ryu Aikijujutsu.
In addition, Bartee Sensei is a certified USSS Fitness Coordinator. He was highly trained by the USSS in Defensive Tactics and Defensive Measures. He has a 5th Degree black belt in Aikido, 3rd Degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, 1st degree blackbelt in iaijutsu and Bando Karate and accomplished, Hapkido, and Wrestling. He is accomplished in Daito-ryu Aikijujtsu.
Bartee Sensei also routinely conducts his “Street Safe Seminar,” an eight hour self-defense class for the non-martial artist at colleges, universities, other educational institutions, public safety agencies, businesses, companies, organizations, groups, and individuals.
